Use pick walls if you want the roof to automatically adjust when walls are moved.

We are around the back side of the building now select this tool in the geometry tab called join unjoin roof. The default is plumb cut as we have seen in the previous images. Create your desired complex roof surface using massing tools. You can set an overhang on roofs created with pick walls.

The wall must be attached to the target roof and the target roof must be a footprint roof. You can join roofs to other roofs or walls or unjoin them if they were previously joined. You should end up with another roof like this we are going to join these roofs together. There is very little to describe here but i will give a brief overview of the workflow.

You can join a roof to the top face of another roof and the wall below that roof if you select the wall as the target. Rafter cut additional options in revit have to do with the termination of the rafters at the eaves. Select each boundary line and set the value in properties or in option bar.
