You want to have your magnums out to start with then take slow but steady shots at his head as soon as you see him.
I have gotten my support to level 5 however there is no change in starting loadout there i would not expect it to change until later on thougth like 15 and then 25.
But the best loadouts for gs contain nothing but the weapons you will be using the most.
